Incomprehensible statistics! Montreal’s surprise man has been the best goalie of the NHL’s early season.
The Montreal Canadiens have climbed to second place in the Atlantic Division with a strong start to the season. The team has collected seven wins and a total of 16 points from their first 12 games.
One of the most important individuals for the Canadiens has been goaltender Jacob Fowler. The 21-year-old American goalie has delivered such impressive performances in seven games that the most enthusiastic NHL reporters have even compared him to Patrick Roy.
Fowler has prevented 10.1 goals above expected this season, which is clearly the best figure in the entire NHL. On average, he has saved about 1.4 goals above expected per game. His save percentage is also excellent at 94.2.
The young man’s breakthrough has come quite unexpectedly. Last season, Fowler appeared in 17 games for the Canadiens and spent most of his season in the AHL.
Fowler is the Montreal’s 3rd round pick from the summer of 2023.
