Urheilucast: A new claim about Raimo Helmisen’s connection to Ilves – what is Harri Aho doing?
The possible return of SaiPa’s head coach Raimo Helminen to Tampereen Ilves is currently a hot topic in hockey circles.
Urheilucastin host Esko Seppänen raised a claim in his podcast that could complicate the club legend’s return.
Seppänen mentioned in Urheilucast that he has heard for years that Helminen would not be willing to return to Ilves under the current sports director Timo “Tillu” Koskela.
Seppänen also brought up the possibility that Ilves might make larger changes to its sports management and coaching staff all at once.
– Ilves has been stuck in limbo during all the years of “Tillu” Koskela. Will they take a step towards starting to win? Will they start preparing for bringing not only Raipe but also Harri Aho through the same door to Tampereen Ilves?
Aho has successfully served as SaiPa’s sports director for many years and has been instrumental in building the success of the Lappeenranta club alongside Helminen.
Seppänen’s reflection raises a new question in the context of Ilves’ coaching situation: could Helminen’s potential return require changes in the club’s sports management as well?
Helminen’s contract with SaiPa ends after the current season.
