The Swiss Society started the spring cleaning – a harsh notice for the Finnish legend
The Swiss club EHC Kloten announces significant changes in its organization.
The club reported the departure of several players as well as coaching staff members – among them, the club’s Finnish legend.
The main focus is on assistant coach Kimmo Rintanen, whose contract will not continue next season. Rintanen has served as Kloten’s assistant coach since the 2021–22 season, but the club was not willing to extend the contract of the three-time Finnish champion Liiga icon.
However, Rintanen has left a strong mark on the club. He became a true club legend in Kloten during his playing career, representing the club for an impressive ten years, from 2001 to 2011.
Major renovation
Rintanen is not the only one leaving the coaching staff. Kloten is completely overhauling its assistant coaches, as both Benjamin Winkler and goaltending coach Tim Bertsche will also be looking for new employers.
In contrast, head coach Lauri Marjamäki will continue in his role. Marjamäki is in his second season as Kloten’s head coach, and his contract still covers next season.
Changes will also be seen in the player roster. The team will see the departures of former Tappara player Tyler Morley and Robert Leino.
Kloten’s season in the National League was lackluster. The team finished only in 12th place in the regular season and did not qualify for the league playoffs.
