The former head coach of the Lions Jukka Jalonen, 63, is returning to hockey in a new role.

According to Iltalehti information, Jalonen will start this season in expert roles in TV5 and HBO Max’s hockey broadcasts.

The three-time world champion coach will be seen either in the studio or alongside the commentator discussing the matches. Jalonen is set to be involved in all four men’s EHT tournaments as well as the under-20 World Championships held at the turn of the year.

The new job begins on Thursday, November 5, when the Lions face Switzerland in Finland’s EHT home tournament.

Jalonen will not coach any team this season. He worked as the head coach of the Italian national team for the past two seasons and currently also serves as an advisor for HPK’s sports operations.

Jalonen has plenty of other television work, as he will also be seen as the new boss of Nelonen’s Diili program.
