Jori Lehterä‘s playing career may not be over yet. According to Urheilucast information, the experienced center has not made a final decision about ending his career, but keeps the door open for a return to the Liiga.

According to Urheilucast‘s Esko Seppänen, Lehterä does not intend to make any decisions regarding his career before Christmas.

– Lehterä is not making any kind of final decision regarding any aspect of his career before Christmas. So Jori Lehterä’s Christmas peace has already begun. All cards are playable from that point on. So the door regarding a return is definitely open. Lehterä’s only criterion is a unique burst of motivation, which would allow him to push through even the gray stone. The salary can be what it is, Seppänen says.

Interest in Lehterä already exists. According to Urheilucast, at least three teams have inquired about his availability.

The decision about a possible return will primarily be determined by motivation. Lehterä does not want to continue his career just for the sake of playing, but the goal should be to compete for the Finnish championship.

According to Seppänen’s assessment, Lehterä would be a very high-quality second or third center in a championship-contending Liiga team.

However, one possible destination can practically be ruled out. Seppänen does not believe Lehterä will return to HIFK.

– Bridges have not been burned all the way to the ground, but in GM Janne Laukkasen‘s organization, the door is not being jumped through. It is not a Stockmann revolving door where you go in and out. That door is closed behind him, Seppänen states.
