JYP is set to lose one of its most important players after this season, as the team’s captain Jere Lassila, 22, is heading abroad for the next season.

According to Ilta-Sanomat, Lassila’s new team is Örebro HK, which plays in Sweden’s SHL. The transfer has not yet been officially confirmed.

In recent years, Lassila has surged into the ranks of the best centers in the league. Despite his young age, he has already worn the captain’s C for JYP for the second season and is one of the key players for the Jyväskylä club.

Last season, Lassila made a real breakthrough into the league’s star roster. The skilled center scored impressive stats of 20+38=58 in 60 regular season games.

This season, Lassila has collected nine points (4+5) in 12 games.

In addition to his offensive skills, Lassila is known for his strong two-way play and leadership qualities.

As a product of JYP, he has also attracted interest in national team circles. He was included in the Lions’ World Championship training camp last spring.

In the youth national teams, Lassila has been among the top players of his age group. He served as Finland’s captain at the Under-20 World Championships in 2024 and was his team’s most effective player with 3+5=8 points in the tournament.

Lassila’s trophy cabinet also includes a World Championship bronze medal from the Under-18s.
