KalPa strengthens – snatched a scoring machine from North America: “A player that looks like KalPa”
KalPa announced on Wednesday a new player acquisition. The Kuopio club has signed a contract for the remainder of the season with Canadian forward Kyle Crnkovic, 24.
Crnkovic has played the last three seasons primarily in the North American ECHL league. Last season, he represented the Wichita Thunder, scoring 47 points in 43 games with 22 goals and 25 assists. Additionally, Crnkovic played 18 AHL games with the San Jose Barracuda, recording 6 points with 1 goal and 5 assists.
Before his professional career, Crnkovic played five seasons in the junior WHL league. He won the WHL championship with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the spring of 2023.
– This season will take on a new character after the national team break in November, as we will start playing primarily with a three-game weekly rhythm. As the game pace intensifies, we need depth in our lineup, and secondly, we need depth and quality in our scoring unit. With Crnkovic, we get both. Kyle is a very skilled and fast forward, a player that fits KalPa’s style. He has produced very well in the WHL and ECHL and has shown his level in AHL rinks as well, KalPa’s sports director Sami Kaartinen states in the club’s announcement.
Crnkovic is capable of playing both center and wing. He will arrive in Kuopio in the coming days and join KalPa’s training squad once his work permit issues are resolved.
