Finnish defender Santtu Kinnunen, 26, will continue his career in the Swiss NL next season as well. SCL Tigers has signed a one-year extension with Kinnunen.

In his first season with the Tigers, Kinnunen has recorded 15 points in 23 games with 3 goals and 12 assists. He is his team’s most effective defender and the third-best scorer.

Kinnunen moved to Switzerland last season, where he played for ZSC Lions. Kinnunen won the Swiss championship and the CHL championship with the club. The defender played 38 regular-season games last season, scoring 6 goals and 8 assists for a total of 14 points, as well as seven playoff games with 1 goal and 1 assist.

Kinnunen was recently part of the Lions’ EHT team in Tampere. He was also seen in the national team last season.

Before moving to Switzerland, Kinnunen played two seasons in the AHL. Prior to that, he represented Tappara and Pelicans in the Liiga. Kinnunen won the Finnish championship with Tappara in 2022.
