Finnish forward Saku Mäenalanen, 32, continues his career in the Swiss top league. Mäenalanen has signed a two-year extension with SCL Tigers.

Mäenalanen previously had a contract until the end of the current season. The new contract keeps him with the Swiss club until spring 2029.

Mäenalanen is currently playing his fourth season with SCL Tigers. He has started the season strongly, accumulating 11 points in 11 games with 5+4=9.

In total, Mäenalanen has played 138 games in the Swiss top league, scoring 34+49=83 points.

– Saku brings a lot of energy, physicality, and experience to our game. He plays hard, works diligently in both directions, and is capable of playing on both the power play and penalty kill, says SCL Tigers’ sports director Pascal Müller in the club’s statement.

Mäenalanen has also achieved success in his career with the Lions. He has won Olympic gold and two World Championships with the Finnish national team. The latter World Championship gold came in the spring of 2026 at the tournament held in Switzerland.

– We value Saku both as a player and as a person. We know what he brings to our team and believe he will play an important role in the coming years as well. We are happy to continue our collaboration, Müller says.
