The long contract of the national team goalkeeper familiar from the league has expired – now a new club has been found
The well-known Norwegian goalkeeper Henrik Haukeland, 30, has signed a one-year contract with the Straubing Tigers, who play in the German DEL league.
Haukeland represented the German club Düsseldorfer EG for the last three seasons. In the fall of 2023, he signed a six-year extension with the club, which would have lasted until 2030.
However, Düsseldorfer was relegated to DEL2 at the end of last season. As a result, Haukeland’s contract with the club was terminated, and he was free to seek a new team.
Last season, Haukeland played 45 games for Düsseldorfer with a save percentage of 89.7.
From 2018 to 2020, Haukeland played in the Liiga, first representing TPS for one season and then KooKoo for another season. He accumulated a total of 76 regular season games and four playoff games.
Haukeland has played for the Norwegian national team in seven World Championships and one Olympics.
