The Finnish star made a much-anticipated return – played his first matches since last December.
Finnish forward Jerry Turkulainen, 27, made his return to action over the weekend after a long injury layoff.
Representing HC Ajoie in Switzerland’s NL, Turkulainen was back in the lineup on Friday and Sunday after a long break, as Ajoie suffered losses to Ambri-Piotta 2-3 and Lugano 1-2. Turkulainen also managed to score on Sunday.
Before the weekend, Turkulainen last played on December 21 of last year, nearly ten months ago. His season ended at that time due to a foot injury. At the time of his injury, Turkulainen was leading the Swiss league’s scoring chart with impressive stats of 9+29=38 in 30 games.
Before moving to Switzerland, Turkulainen had several top seasons with JYP. In his last Liiga season, he scored 63 points in 60 games with 21+42, finishing second in the scoring race.
Ajoie’s season has started poorly. They have won only one of their 14 games and collected five points. The team is in last place, eight points behind the next team.
