The familiar MM gold medal forward from Leijonat is leaving – here is the new team
World champion Jere Innala, known from the Lions, is changing scenery for the next season.
Lugano, playing in the Swiss league, announced on Wednesday that they have signed a two-year contract with the 27-year-old forward. Innala will move to the team from Frölunda, which plays in Sweden’s SHL, after the current season.
Lugano’s GM Janick Steinmann is excited about the new Finnish reinforcement.
– Innala is a fast winger with strong goal-scoring skills. At 27, he still has his best playing years ahead of him. He has gained experience from the top leagues in the world in Sweden, Finland, and North America and will be a big piece of our future team, Steinmann commented on the club’s website.
Innala moved to the SHL this season from the Colorado Avalanche. In Sweden, the forward has been in great form, as he has scored 21 goals and provided 18 assists for a total of 39 points in 48 games.
Innala also played a crucial role last week when he secured the championship for Frölunda with his overtime goal in the CHL.
