The contract negotiations are over – Columbus made a big signing in the NHL!
The Columbus Blue Jackets have reached a three-year contract extension with forward Cole Sillinger, reports NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman. The contract guarantees Sillinger an annual salary of $4.625 million, making the total value of the new deal $13.875 million.
Sillinger, 23, was a restricted free agent. He and Columbus were headed for arbitration to reach a new contract. The hearing was ultimately not needed, as the extension was agreed upon before that.
Sillinger finished last season in Columbus with 81 games played, recording 8+25=33 points. Having played five seasons in the NHL, Sillinger has surpassed the 30-point mark four times.
Columbus drafted Sillinger in 2021 in the first round with the 12th overall pick. The forward has played a total of 367 NHL games, with 51+89=140 points.
