The behemoth that fought with Tom Wilson received a penalty – out of the Olympics!
The French ice hockey federation has suspended defender Pierre Crinon for the remainder of the Olympics.
Crinon fought with Canada’s Tom Wilson on Sunday. Both were sent to the showers after the incident. The International Ice Hockey Federation did not impose additional penalties on the players for the fight.
Instead, the French ice hockey federation punished Crinon himself with a suspension for events following the fight. Chairman Pierre-Yves Gerbeau called Crinon in for a talk due to his behavior after the fight. Crinon gestured to the crowd as he left the ice.
– The French ice hockey federation wants to remind all players wearing the French national team jersey of the values and their duty to set an example, especially at the Olympics.
– Pierre Crinon’s provocative behavior as he left the ice after the fight is a clear violation of the Olympic spirit and undermines the values of our sport. As a result, a decision has been made in conjunction with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee to not allow him to participate in future Olympic tournament matches, as stated in the announcement.
France will face Germany in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
