The behavior of KHL players is stirring – even their own teammates are complaining to the referees.
Former NHL forward Maxime Comtois has become a topic of discussion around the hockey world. The behavior of the Canadian forward during the KHL playoffs has been so infuriating that even his own coach and teammates have lost their temper over his antics.
An unusual scene was captured through the camera in the referee’s helmet. The referee went to warn the head coach of Dynamo Moscow that he was losing his temper over Comtois’s disrespectful behavior.
– You see, he is… He has annoyed me too, head coach Vjatsheslav Kozlov admitted to the referee.
Later, several opponents complained to the referee about Comtois’s behavior. They accused the forward of repeated dirty foot sweeps.
Even Comtois’s own teammate Jordan Weal approached the officiating crew during the intermission.
– I know you don’t like Comtois. Many of us don’t like him either. Don’t call the game based on Comtois yelling at you. Treat the rest of our team differently, Weal requested.
Comtois was once a promising NHL forward. In the 2020-21 season, he scored 16 goals and 17 assists for a total of 33 points in 55 games with the Anaheim Ducks when he was just 21 years old. However, that marked the beginning of a steep decline in the winger’s career.
