The Russian hockey prospect Jegor Jadykin is reported to have died in a tragic accident during a hunting trip, according to the Russian site Sport-Express.ru reported.

The 21-year-old Jadykin was reportedly hunting near Salavat with his grandfather when his gun accidentally discharged while he was handling the rifle. The accident led to his immediate death.

Russian sources reported that the player’s grandfather witnessed the incident. Afterward, he sent a voice message to his relatives and committed suicide. Both bodies were found in a shed in Salavat.

Jadykin played last season in the VHL, the second highest league in Russia, for the HK Norilsk team.

The young forward had achieved success in his career at the junior level, including winning the Russian U17 championship and a spot in the MHL All-Star game last season.
