The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup by defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in the finals. At the same time, John Tortorella’s brief tenure as head coach of Vegas came to an end.

Tortorella was hired to lead Vegas at the end of the regular season. He ultimately guided the team to within two wins of the Stanley Cup.

When Carolina won the fifth game of the finals in Raleigh, Tortorella was confident that Vegas would even the series. He stated after the game that the team would be back in Raleigh and that he planned to leave his clothes at the hotel.

Since Carolina won the sixth game, there was never a seventh game played. After the championship was decided, Carolina took Tortorella’s earlier comment and coolly responded to him on social media.

– We’ll send them (the clothes) to you. It might take a few days. We’re a bit busy, the team wrote on X.
