Swiss player Theo Rochette, 24, who played in the World Championships this spring, is heading to the NHL. He has signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

Rochette was not drafted into the NHL. The forward played in his first World Championships this spring, achieving a silver medal. Rochette recorded 3+3 points in ten tournament games.

For the last three seasons, Rochette has played in the top league of his home country with Lausanne HC. In the past season, he scored 22+21=43 points in 46 regular season games and 1+6 points in seven playoff games.

Rochette played in North America in the junior league QMJHL from 2018 to 2023. In his final season in the league, he won the championship and the Memorial Cup.
