Rikard Grönborg’s Tre Kronor reached an exceptional decision
After serving as the head coach of Tappara for the previous three seasons, Rikard Grönborg is returning as the head coach of the Swedish national team starting next season. Tre Kronor has made an exceptional decision regarding Grönborg’s coaching staff.
The Swedish Ice Hockey Association announces that there will be no permanent assistant coaches in Grönborg’s coaching staff. Instead, Sweden will appoint assistants for Grönborg from the country’s top league, SHL, for each tournament next season.
Instead of assistant coaches, Sweden stated that it will strengthen in other ways. Nicklas Lidström, Tommy Boustedt, and Jack Han will join the background staff of the Swedish national team. Lidström will serve as a senior advisor, Boustedt as a player scout, and Han as an analyst.
Grönborg won two Finnish championships during his three seasons with Tappara. He last led the Swedish national team from 2016 to 2019, winning the world championship twice.
