The Young Lions were crushed by the Czech Republic – harsh numbers in the home tournament
The Young Lions suffered a crushing defeat in Matinkylä, Espoo on Thursday, as the Czech Republic dominated the hosts with a score of 5-0 in a five-nation tournament match.
The Finnish under-20 national team was unable to break the deadlock despite having five power play opportunities to attempt scoring.
The Czech point collector in the match was Adam Benak with a performance of 2+1.
Finland started the tournament on Wednesday with a 3-4 overtime loss to Slovakia.
The Young Lions’ tournament continues on Saturday with a match against Sweden. In the final match on Sunday, they will face Switzerland.
The under-20 World Championships will be held at the turn of the year in Canada.
