NHL teams in trades – Carey Price’s massive contract was traded!
The Montreal Canadiens and San Jose Sharks have completed a trade in the NHL.
The Canadiens have traded their franchise icon Carey Price to the Sharks. Additionally, the Sharks receive a 5th round draft pick for the 2026 draft in the deal. In return, defenseman Gannon Laroque is moving to the Canadiens.
Price, 38, has not been able to play since the 2021-22 season, during which he played only five games with a save percentage of 87.8. During his time with the Canadiens, he played a total of 712 regular season games and 92 playoff games. Price’s contract, which guarantees him $10.5 million per season, still covers next season.
Laroque, 22, is the Sharks’ 4th round pick (#103) from 2021. His playing time in recent years has been limited. Last season, he did not play any games due to injury.
