The Vancouver Canucks have placed Aatu Rädyn on the NHL waivers list. The news was reported by Sportsnet journalist Elliotte Friedman.

The 23-year-old Finnish forward has played four games this season with a score of 1+0. Last season, Rädyn appeared in 66 games for the Canucks, collecting 4+10=14 points.

The New York Islanders’ second-round pick from the summer of 2021 has accumulated a total of 118 regular-season games in the NHL with a score of 14+15=29.

The Canucks’ decision came as a surprise to many fans. The placement of the praised Finnish player on the waivers list, especially due to his faceoff skills, raised eyebrows on social media.

– This makes no sense. Responsible faceoff specialists are not placed on the waivers list. Did this guy try to hit on Aquilini’s daughter at the Christmas party or what? MrHoots1978 emphasized on X.

– Every smart team should grab him. He is an excellent faceoff taker, tezzlezz wrote.

The management received harsh feedback in the comments. Some fans considered Rädyn’s move to another team practically certain.

– So is this really happening, Canucks? What the hell is this? flyingelbows867 wrote.

– I can’t wait for someone to pick him up and for him to score 20 goals elsewhere as a third-line center. What the hell is the management doing, BluelineBardown commented.

Some, on the other hand, speculated that the Canucks’ decision was related to Rädyn’s skating.

– Someone will grab him and give him a chance as a fourth-line center. The Canucks don’t believe his skating speed is sufficient for the NHL level, Jhammy51 analyzed.
