Dallas Stars’ Mikko Rantanen became the hero of his team in last night’s NHL round. The Finnish forward scored a hat trick as Dallas defeated the Boston Bruins in overtime with a score of 3–2.

Rantanen was the only goal scorer for Dallas in the match. He managed to equalize the game twice during regulation time and ultimately scored the winning goal in overtime.

Boston got off to a strong start in the match when Matthew Poitras put the visiting team in the lead in the first period. Rantanen brought Dallas level early in the second period, but James Hagens restored the Bruins’ lead just a few minutes later.

Dallas had to wait for their next goal until the latter part of the third period. Roope Hintz’s shot hit Boston’s Charlie McAvoy in the leg, from where the puck bounced to Rantanen. The Finnish star did not miss the opportunity and scored the equalizer just over six minutes before the final buzzer.

Rantanen crowned his outstanding match in overtime. He scored Dallas’ winning goal on the power play at 63:52, as the puck ended up behind Boston’s goalie Jeremy Swayman after a spectacular move. Miro Heiskanen registered an assist on the goal.

The hat trick was Rantanen’s 11th in his NHL regular season career. He has started the season effectively, recording 11 points (5+6) in nine games. Rantanen leads Dallas’ internal scoring race.

For Dallas, the victory was their third in a row. Boston’s five-game winning streak, on the other hand, came to an end.
