Jokerit dropped the bad news – forward out for several months
Jokerit announces on Instagram unfortunate news about an injury. Forward Kristo Pitkänen will undergo surgery and will be out of the rink for a long time.
Jokerit states that the 21-year-old Pitkänen is currently estimated to be sidelined for about four months. If this estimate holds, Pitkänen’s return would be pushed to February 2027.
Pitkänen joined Jokerit for this season from Kiekko-Vantaa. He has played five Liiga games so far this season and scored one goal. Pitkänen last played last Friday against Ässät, during which he was only able to play for 51 seconds.
Last season, Pitkänen was one of Kiekko-Vantaa’s most effective players in Mestis. He recorded 30 points with 15 goals and 15 assists in 49 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he recorded 16 points with 6 goals and 10 assists in ten games.
In addition to Pitkänen, the Jokerit injury list includes Emil Kuusla, Riku Tuomola, Oskari Manninen, Olli Juolevi, and Teemu Turunen. The situations of Kuusla, Tuomola, and Manninen are being monitored day by day, while Juolevi and Turunen are out for 2-3 weeks.
