NHL defenseman: quick kicks in SHL
In the NHL, Cal Foote, 27, who won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning, has been given a quick dismissal from the SHL. The defender, who was embroiled in a recent scandal involving the Canadian national team, has been terminated from his contract with Färjestad at a rapid pace.
The parties signed the contract for the next season only 48 hours before the criticized team decided to terminate the agreement.
– Färjestad BK has decided to terminate the contract with Cal Foote. After discussing with several individuals and stakeholders who have a green and white heart, we have decided not to continue our collaboration, the team states in a press release.
Foote was found not guilty in a long-running rape trial, but he has not had any dealings with the NHL since then. Last season, Foote played for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL and recorded 4+14=18 points in 48 regular season games. His playoff record was 21 games with 3+8=11 points.
Foote was drafted into the NHL in the first round, 14th overall, in 2017.
