The St. Louis Blues have signed a six-year extension with Swedish defenseman Philip Broberg.

The contract guarantees Broberg, 24, a total income of 48 million dollars and impacts the Blues’ salary cap by eight million dollars per season.

Broberg is currently playing his second season in St. Louis. The large and excellent skating defenseman moved to the Blues from the Edmonton Oilers via an offer sheet contract.

This season, Broberg has recorded 15 points with 2 goals and 13 assists in 46 games. He was selected for Sweden’s Olympic team at the beginning of January.
