New information about the situation of the injured star defender from Canada
MILANO.
The star defenseman of the Canadian Olympic team Josh Morrissey was injured in the team’s opening match against the Czech Republic on Thursday. His game was cut short.
Morrissey did not play in Canada’s next match on Friday against Switzerland. Canada still has a match against France remaining in the group stage on Sunday.
Canada’s head coach Jon Cooper confirmed that Morrissey will not play against France either. However, Cooper made it clear that Morrissey’s tournament is not over at this stage.
– He will not play in the next game, but that by no means indicates that his tournament is over, Cooper said.
Brad Marchand was also absent from the Switzerland match. Cooper stated that Marchand will return to the lineup for the France match.
Canada has won both of its matches in the tournament and leads its group. It has already secured the group victory and thus a direct spot in the quarter-finals.
