Markus Granlund struck with massive power – sprinted to victory in the Swiss league scoring race
Olympic gold medalist Markus Granlund has won the Swiss league scoring title.
The 32-year-old Finnish star from Geneve-Servette climbed to the top of the scoring list on the last round of the regular season. Granlund scored 2+2 against Kloten as his team crushed Kloten 7–0.
Thanks to a remarkable final round, Granlund moved to the top of the scoring list, one point ahead of Davos’ Matej Stransky. Before the last round, the Finn was three points behind the Czech talent.
Granlund collected 54 points in 49 regular season games with stats of 22+32.
Granlund became only the third Finnish player to win the Swiss league scoring title. Previously, this was achieved by defenseman Petteri Nummelin in 2003 and Ville Peltonen in 2004.
This season is Granlund’s fourth in the Swiss league.
Granlund’s team, Geneve-Servette, finished third in the regular season. Davos surged to an overwhelming victory in the regular season, leaving second-placed Fribourg 17 points behind.
