Leijonat star Patrik Puistola: team changes – two-year contract
In the SHL of Sweden, Patrik Puistola, who has performed effectively in Örebro for two seasons, is changing teams. Frölunda announced on Tuesday that they have signed a two-year contract with the 25-year-old Finnish winger.
– He is a skilled and productive player in the offensive zone, describes sports director Fredrik Sjöström his new acquisition, who is currently aiming for a spot on the national team for the World Championships.
– This felt like the best choice to take the next step in my career. Frölunda is a good organization with a clear goal to win, and that appealed to me. I talked a bit with Jere (Innala) and Arttu (Ruotsalainen) before I made my decision, and they only had good things to say about the club, the environment, and the city, Puistola commented on his transfer.
Puistola has scored 32+43=75 points in 102 SHL regular season games.
SHL and Sweden suit Puistola well, who was born in Sweden, where his father Pasi Puistola played for the first ten years of his son’s life. Patrik started his hockey career in the juniors of HV71.
– I feel very comfortable in Sweden. Knowing the language makes things much easier, Puistola admits.
Frölunda will lose two Finnish players from their team next season, as Innala and Ruotsalainen, who represented the team this season, are moving to new surroundings.
