Leevi Selänne’s team made it through!
Forward Leevi Selänne has signed a one-year contract with the Mestis team Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat.
The 25-year-old Selänne arrived at the Joensuu team on a two-week tryout contract, during which the second-generation winger impressed the club management.
– We want depth and competition for positions in our offense. Leevi has shown a desire to develop and an attitude that he wants to compete for a spot on our strong team, Kiekko-Pojat manager Jaakko Lipponen says in a statement.
Selänne has enjoyed his time in Joensuu.
– I am really happy and grateful to have come here to play and to be part of this group. Joensuu as a city, all the facilities and the people around have been absolutely amazing, Selänne expresses.
Last season, Selänne recorded 15 goals and 9 assists for a total of 24 points in 32 games with Ockelbo HC in Sweden’s fourth-highest league.
Selänne also has experience in Mestis from the 2023-24 season, when he played 23 games with Kajaanin Hoki, achieving 2 goals and 2 assists for a total of 4 points.
