Kiekko-Vantaa is now playing for high stakes. The Mestis club wants to rise to the evolving Liiga and is simultaneously looking for a gambling company to join its growth project.

The club does not hide its plans. Kiekko-Vantaa Hockey Ltd aims for at least a three-year partnership with a gambling operator coming to Finland. A partner has not yet been chosen, and discussions with potential operators will begin in the autumn.

Timing is crucial for the club. The Finnish gambling market will shift to a licensing system in 2027, and at the same time, the structure of Finnish ice hockey leagues will be renewed.

– The opening of the gambling market coincides with a very interesting phase for Kiekko-Vantaa Hockey Ltd. The club is growing, and our goals are high. We want to find a partner who sees the same opportunity and wants to engage long-term, says the chairman of the board Anssi Aura in the club’s statement.

Kiekko-Vantaa has chosen Laura Sandström and Sandstorm Events Ltd as the project’s commercial expert.

– I think this is an exceptionally good combination. The Finnish gambling market is opening up, Finnish ice hockey is changing, and Kiekko-Vantaa Hockey Ltd is taking a big step forward at the same time. When you combine this with Vantaa and the entire capital region as a market area, we have a really interesting package to offer, Sandström says.
