Defender Oliver Tuhkanen continues with Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat under a contract extending to spring 2028. The transfer of the 25-year-old, who arrived on loan from Jokerit, becomes permanent, Kiekko-Pojat announces.

Jokerit announced earlier on Thursday that they had mutually agreed to terminate Tuhkanen’s player contract. The defender’s new contract with Kiekko-Pojat covers the seasons 2026–2027 and 2027–2028.

Tuhkanen moved to Joensuu two weeks ago on an indefinite loan agreement. He has recorded one assist in three Mestis matches. He did not play any games in Jokerit’s Liiga roster this season.

Last season, Tuhkanen recorded 3+8=11 points in 46 Mestis matches with Jokerit. In the season prior, he scored 24 points in the same number of games with TUTO Hockey.

The right-shooting EVU product has played a total of 215 regular season matches in Mestis for Jokerit, TUTO, and Kiekko-Vantaa.

Kiekko-Pojat will next play on Friday against Hermes in Kokkola. On Saturday, the team will face RoKi in Rovaniemi.
