The attacker Dillon Dubé, 27, who was embroiled in a gang rape scandal that shook Canadian sports circles a few years ago and was subsequently found innocent by the court, is returning to the NHL next season.

This is reported by insider journalist Jeremy Rutherford, who closely follows the St. Louis Blues, stating that the Blues are close to signing the Canadian forward.

– According to my sources, it is highly likely that the 27-year-old forward will sign a contract with St. Louis as a free agent and will play in the Blues’ center next season, Rutherford says.

The Calgary Flames released Dubé after the rape allegations became public in 2024, after which the forward played a year in the KHL with Dinamo Minsk.

Last December, Dubé received a contract with St. Louis’ farm team, the Springfield Thunderbirds, where he played 46 regular-season games with stats of 20+17=37 and was, despite his limited playing time, the team’s fourth highest scorer.

The forward, who was drafted by the Flames in the second round of the NHL in the summer of 2016, has played 325 regular-season games in the NHL with stats of 57+70=127.

The goalie Carter Hart, who was also embroiled in the same scandal, is currently defending the net for the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Carolina Hurricanes.
