Jarmo Kekäläinen in pursuit of NHL star center – Antti Mäkinen: “I know”
The player who has requested a trade from the Detroit Red Wings, Dylan Larkin, is currently a hot name in the NHL trade market. Viaplay’s NHL commentator Antti Mäkinen highlights an interesting option for Larkin’s new team from a Finnish perspective in the Kimanttia podcast.
– I know that Jarmo Kekäläinen is interested. Buffalo has now had a chance to bite into that fruit for the first time, but they need more quality in that team, Mäkinen starts.
– Larkin would be just the kind of player who would add depth to the roster, and he is an excellent hockey player. He would be a really great piece for that train.
There is also a connection to the U.S. Olympic gold medal-winning team in Buffalo.
– The East is familiar to him as the captain of Detroit. In Buffalo, he has Tage Thompson, who was part of the Olympic team, Mäkinen adds.
According to several insider reports, Alex Tuch, who demands a $10 million annual salary, is not receiving a new contract from Kekäläinen, which conveniently opens up space in the salary budget for Larkin’s arrival.
– With Tuch’s departure, they have room for Larkin’s contract. If I had to choose between the two, I would take Larkin, Mäkinen states.
There are plenty of takers for Larkin around the NHL. The star center has a full no-trade clause in his contract, so he himself will make the final decision regarding where Detroit can trade him this summer.
