NHL has sounded – a high-paid defenseman wants a trade!
Defender Darnell Nurse has requested a trade away from the Edmonton Oilers. The news is reported by Sportsnet journalists Elliotte Friedman and Mark Spector.
Nurse’s contract includes a full no-trade clause, but he has now informed Edmonton that he wants to be traded. According to Sportsnet, Nurse has a list of 3-5 teams he could move to.
Nurse, 31, was originally the seventh overall pick by Edmonton in the 2013 draft. He has represented Edmonton throughout his NHL career, playing a total of 798 regular season games (88+236=324) and 100 playoff games (7+22=29).
This season, Nurse finished the regular season with 82 games, totaling 7+17=24 points. Nurse, who has served as Edmonton’s alternate captain for the past seven seasons, earns $9.25 million this season, and his contract runs through 2030.
