Julius Honka found a new team
Finnish defender Julius Honka has found a new team in Switzerland. HC Ajoie announces that they have signed a one-year contract with Honka.
Honka, 30, has played the last three seasons in Switzerland. He has represented four different teams: SC Bern, Genève-Servette, HC Davos, and last season SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. Honka scored 19 points in 36 games this past season with 6 goals and 13 assists.
In his career, Honka has played 87 NHL games with the Dallas Stars. Before moving to Switzerland, Honka also played two seasons in the SHL with Luleå.
Honka has also been seen in the jersey of the Lions, most recently in the Finland EHT tournament last November. He has played in the World Championships in 2017 and 2018.
Honka will get to play in Ajoie with his brother. Defender Anttoni Honka has played with the team for two seasons and his contract is also valid for next season.
