Joona Luoto targeted by top club’s courting – “They are at least interested”
Joona Luoto, who has won two Finnish championships with Tappara, is still without a team for the upcoming season.
The 28-year-old winger, who has played 23 games in the NHL, represented HV71 in the SHL for the last two seasons, where his latter season saw a significant drop in production from 25 points to nine.
However, the 190-centimeter tall forward may have found a new team. According to Expressen, Brynäs IF, which finished sixth in the SHL regular season last year, is interested in the Finnish player.
– Brynäs’ sports director Johan Alcén is conducting extensive research in a relatively weak player market. The team needs at least two new forwards, and one of them should bring some size. For this reason, an interesting name among the options is Joona Luoto, writes Expressen.
– He still hasn’t signed a contract and remains a free agent. If his salary request is reasonable, Brynäs is at least interested in him.
Despite his age, Luoto is already an experienced professional. The forward has played in the NHL, AHL, Liiga, as well as in the leagues of Sweden and Switzerland.
