Jokerit sent Kiekko-Pojat on vacation – Mestis semi-final pairs determined
The Mestiksen semi-final pairs were decided on Wednesday evening in Joensuu, when Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat faced Jokerit in the sixth match of their quarter-final series.
Kiekko-Pojat, which had publicly announced its dreams of the Liiga, ultimately faced disappointment. Jokerit secured a 2–1 away victory in Joensuu and advanced to the semi-finals with a match score of 4–2.
The goal scorers for Jokerit were Jere Henriksson and Okko Kangasniemi.
The loss was a bitter blow for Kiekko-Pojat. Being eliminated in the quarter-finals means that the club, which made significant investments, will not be seen in the Liiga next season.
Jokerit will face Kiekko-Vantaa, which finished fourth in the regular season, in the semi-finals. In the other semi-final match-up, the regular season second-placed IPK will face the third-placed Ketterä.
