Jesse Puljujärvi became the savior of his team Geneve-Servette in the Swiss league playoffs on Tuesday night. Puljujärvi scored a power-play goal to reduce the deficit to 2-3 in the third period and decided the match with an overtime goal of 4-3 against Lausanne HC. At the same time, Geneve-Servette leveled the playoff series at 3-3.

The overtime goal by Puljujärvi at 63:51 was assisted by Markus Granlund.

The victory was sweet for Geneve-Servette, as the home team Lausanne had already taken a 3-0 lead midway through the game before the visitors began their comeback.

The visitors’ comeback was largely due to the efforts of the Finns. In addition to Puljujärvi, who scored two goals, Granlund and Sakari Manninen recorded 0+3, while Vili Saarijärvi contributed 1+2 from the defense position.

The decisive seventh quarterfinal match between the third-placed Geneve-Servette and the sixth-placed Lausanne will be played on Thursday at 21:00 Finnish time.

The semifinal spots in the Swiss league have already been secured by the regular season champion Davos and the fourth-placed Zürich Lions. The winner of the series between Fribourg and Rapperswil-Jona will also be decided in a seventh game.
