IS: Jere Karalahd has been charged with three crimes
Former ice hockey player Jere Karalahti, 50, has been charged with a total of three drug offenses, reports Ilta-Sanomat.
Karalahti has been charged with two aggravated drug offenses and one drug offense. The charges against Karalahti are part of a large drug case involving 17 defendants. The alleged crimes took place in Helsinki last year between July and September.
According to IS, Karalahti is suspected of acquiring hundreds of grams of cocaine and about a kilogram of amphetamine and distributing them. Police found about ten grams of amphetamine in Karalahti’s home freezer during the investigation.
Karalahti has been in custody since October 2. He has repeatedly requested release without success. Karalahti has denied committing the crimes.
The case will be heard at the end of January.
