Finnish goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s name has emerged out of nowhere in NHL trade rumors.
Sportsnet’s insider Elliotte Friedman brought up on SN 590 radio that the Buffalo Sabres might be willing to trade Luukkonen to another NHL team.
The 26-year-old Luukkonen has been with the Sabres organization for six seasons. The nearly two-meter-tall goalie is earning a hefty $4.75 million salary until the summer of 2029.
The past season was a major disappointment for Luukkonen. The Espoo native played 55 games in the NHL with a lackluster save percentage of 88.7.
