The team RoKi playing in the Mestis league has encountered financial difficulties, as the company behind the Rovaniemi club, RoKi Hockey Oy, has filed for bankruptcy.

This is evident from the insolvency register maintained by the Legal Register Centre. The bankruptcy petition was submitted by the Tax Administration on Monday.

The filing of the petition does not automatically mean bankruptcy, as it may simply be a matter of unpaid invoices.

The amount of receivables behind the petition has not been disclosed to the public.

In any case, the news comes at a difficult time for RoKi. This season, the stakes in Mestis are exceptionally high, as the league system will be reformed for the 2027–28 season, and seven out of the current nine Mestis teams are set to secure a place in the league’s organized series next season.

On the sporting side, RoKi’s season has started well, as they have won two out of three matches. RoKi’s next Mestis match is on Friday, September 25, against Pyry.

The bankruptcy petition against RoKi was first reported by Iltalehti.
