IL: NHL team offered a job to Teemu Selänne
Finnish ice hockey legend Teemu Selänne, 55, has started to warm up to the idea of working in the NHL.
Selänne revealed to Iltalehti that his former team, the Anaheim Ducks, has shown interest in him and offered him a job.
– They are definitely trying all the time, Selänne says to Iltalehti.
– I have mainly been involved in their charity projects, and somehow it feels like there hasn’t been time until now. Now, I must admit, I could gradually have something to give there, especially since coaching Veera [daughter] is no longer my responsibility, he continues.
According to Selänne, coaching does not particularly interest him, but various roles on the administrative side of hockey could appeal to him.
– Coaching does not interest me at all. It has been offered that I can decide what I want to do. It’s a bit like either you go all in or not at all. I wouldn’t want to go in half-heartedly.
Selänne considers possible options to be a role as an advisor to the team management or coaching. He is also interested in developing power play strategies.
Selänne ended his extensive NHL career with the Ducks in 2014. He has lived in California since then.
