HS: New information about Jere Karalahti’s situation
Jere Karalahti has been in custody since October 2nd. The former top hockey player is suspected of serious drug offenses.
Helsingin Sanomat reported on Tuesday that the investigation into Karalahti has progressed.
– As it stands, the preliminary investigation is expected to be completed by mid-December, says the lead investigator, crime commissioner Markku Juurikkamäki to HS.
According to Juurikkamäki, there are several suspects in the case. However, he did not comment on the identities of the suspects.
After the completion of the preliminary investigation, the prosecutor has about a month to decide on filing charges. The deadline has been set for January 15th.
Karalahti has already requested release from custody twice. The Helsinki District Court decided on November 3rd that the suspect will remain in custody.
Karalahti has denied committing the suspected crimes.
