Defender Tommi Kivistö, 34, has signed an extension with the Czech top league.

Kivistö joined Mountfield HK at the end of September on an initial three-month contract. Now Mountfield has made an extension with Kivistö that covers both the remainder of the season and next season.

Kivistö has played 17 games for Mountfield with stats of 0+2. His plus/minus rating is +5.

– Tommi arrived to us while the season was already underway and he immediately adapted perfectly to the team. He is an experienced defensive defender with an excellent work ethic, commented Mountfield’s head coach Tomas Martinec in the club’s press release.

For the last three seasons, Kivistö represented Kärpät. In the league, he has also represented Ilves and Jokerit, with whom he also played in the KHL. Kivistö has also played in the AHL, ECHL, and Switzerland during his career.

With the Lions, Kivistö has played three times in the World Championships and once in the Olympics. He has won two World Championship silver medals, in 2014 and 2016.
