Finnish forward Jesse Kiiskinen was the absolute star of last night’s AHL game. The 21-year-old Kiiskinen scored a hat trick and collected a total of 3+1 points as the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Chicago Wolves 5–1.

Kiiskinen, who is part of the Detroit Red Wings organization, got off to a fast start in the first period. He opened his scoring account at 5:45 and found the net again just over six minutes later.

The third goal came just one minute into the second period. Kiiskinen completed his hat trick at 21:20, meaning all three goals were scored within less than 16 minutes.

The Finnish player’s effective evening continued in the final period when he registered an assist on Dylan James‘s goal to make it 4–1.

For Kiiskinen, the hat trick was the first of his AHL career. He has also been in great form at the start of the season, with 5+2 points after five games. With these numbers, the Finn leads both the AHL rookie goal scoring and points race.

Kiiskinen moved to North American rinks towards the end of last season. Before that, he played two seasons with HPK in the Liiga.
