Golden Lion Jussi Olkinuora: the landscape changes
Gold Lion Jussi Olkinuora, 35, will not continue next season with the Dresdner Eislöwen. The German club announced the departure of 11 players, and Olkinuora is one of the players leaving the team.
Dresdner Eislöwen finished last in the German DEL league with a 27-point gap. As a result, the team has been relegated to the country’s second tier for the next season.
Olkinuora played 25 games in Germany this season. His save percentage was a modest 87.2.
Olkinuora also played in Germany last season representing Löwen Frankfurt. Throughout his career, he has also played in the AHL, KHL, Sweden, and Switzerland. In the league, Olkinuora has represented SaiPa, JYP, and Pelicans.
With the Lions, Olkinuora has participated in four World Championships and one Olympics. He has won Olympic gold, two World Championship golds, and one World Championship silver.
Along with Olkinuora, goalies Paul Stocker and Clemens Stocker, defenders Alec McCrea, Emil Johansson, and Justin Braun, as well as forwards Niklas Postel, Matthias Pischoff, Rourke Chartier, Lance Bouma, and Trevor Parkes also left Dresdner Eislöwen.
