Former HIFK boss Tobias Salmelainen got a top position from the NHL!

Edmonton Oilers announces the hiring of Tobias Salmelainen as the assistant GM responsible for European operations.
Salmelainen will lead a team that is responsible for all European operations, including scouting, recruiting free agents, and player acquisitions. Salmelainen will also leverage his expertise in European player development.
Salmelainen, 41, has been working in Edmonton for the last two seasons. He previously served as a development coach with the team.
Before joining Edmonton, Salmelainen was the sports director of HIFK in the Liiga from 2017 to 2024.
