Finnish prospect drafted by the NHL: tryout contract with AHL team

Finnish goaltending prospect Veeti Louhivaara, 20, has signed a try-out contract with AHL team Utica Comets.
This is the farm team of the New Jersey Devils. Louhivaara is the Devils’ 5th round pick (#146) from 2024.
Louhivaara has played the last few months in the USHL junior league with the Chicago Steel. He has recorded a save percentage of 90.5 in 22 games.
Next season, Louhivaara will move to play at the University of Connecticut.
Hailing from Jyväskylä, Louhivaara has played the last few years in JYP’s juniors. He has also been seen in one Liiga game in goal for JYP during the 2023-24 season, in addition to having nine Mestis games with KeuPa HT.
