Finnish goalkeeper Christopher Gibson, 32, has found a new club.

The Italian club HC Bolzano, playing in the ICEHL league, announces that it has signed a contract with Gibson, valid until the beginning of February. Gibson joins the team to replace the injured Gianluca Vallini.

Gibson has not played anywhere this season yet. Last season, he first represented HC Nove Zamky in Slovakia, playing 15 games with a save percentage of 88.0. He then played the rest of the season in Germany’s second tier with EC Kassel Huskies, where he recorded three regular season games (95.8%) and five playoff games (92.3%).

The season before last, Gibson was seen in the Liiga. He joined Lukko in the latter half of the season and played 15 regular season games (87.7%) and three playoff games (89.6%) with the club.

Before moving to the Liiga, Gibson played for a long time in North America. He has played 16 games in the NHL with the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning. In the AHL, Gibson has played 244 games.

Earlier this week, Doug Shedden started as the head coach of Bolzano, having previously coached Sport in the Liiga for just under two months.
